How to save on Gas
10 Jun 2008
There are few thing you can do to save (or maximize) gas MPG. First get a tune-up.
(1) Change spark plugs.
(2) Replcae spark plug wires.
(3) Change oil every 2500 miles and certainly at 3000 miles.
(4) Keep new air filter.
(5) Do not use Air conditioner as far as possible.
(6) Keep the tire pressure correct.
(7) clear the trunk of useless heavy items.
(8) spray clean MAF sensor.
(9) DO not fill the fuel tank full. Fill only half - to keep car light.
Have you read above very carefully. If you have read it very carefully, you have wasted your time. None of the above is going to save you any significant amount on gas.
If you really want to save gas, forget all those "SAVE GAS" scams. There are very simple rules to save gas:
(1) drive as slow as possible and on as high gear safely possible - not too much past 55
(2) accelerate slowly.
(3) don't brake unnecessarily. Look at red light a quarter mile ealier. Use friction instead of brakes to stop car.
(4) use cruise control - whenever it is safe to do so.
Bye the way I came accross a calculator that you can use to calculate the saving by swithing to a more fuel efficient car.
