Massive Layoffs in Advanced Micro Devices

The Number two chipmaker company Advanced Micro Devices is under financial pressure after loosing the battle with Intel. The financial numbers are expected to be bad for the quarter ending March 2008.
TO contain the missing finances, layoffs have quietly started. It is expected the 5% of the workforce will be reduced. The layoffs are not targed to any particular section and it looks like it is going to be across the boards.
Pink slips are being handed over. AMD is facing double difficulties - loosing battle from Intel and the recession. It is a bit too late to take actions. AMD has done too little to fight the competition. Let us see how it does in the coming six months.
