A review of Fujitsu Lifeboo P8020 Notebook

Fujitsu P8020 notebook is a ultraportable small size notebook with 12.1" LCD with the notebook weighing a little less that 3 lb. It is neither cheap nor very powerful. It will cost you close to $2000 in its normal configuration.

Processor

The Fujitsu P8020 has a the Intel Core 2 Duo U9400 low voltage processor . These processors are designed to work at very low voltages. The main purpose here is to conserve power. The speed is a secondary consideration. So you will find them behind is speed and performance.


Memory

The base Fujitsu P8020 comes with 2 GBytes of DDR2 memory.


Battery Life

Under normal surfing conditions, this notebook will last a little over 5 hours with screen brightness set to 50%. This is normal with notebooks in this category using 6-cell Li Ion batteries. A higher capacity battery would have increased the life, but the mechanical design will not allow it.

Screen

Fujitsu P8020 has a cute 12.1" display. The colors are vivid but the viewing angle is less.The resolution is 1280x800. This is good enough for basic work.

Audio and Speakers

The notebook has small size with very limited bass output. The sound quality is just accepatbly for wathing movie. A headphone or an external surround system is a must if you want to listen quality music.

Ports

Fujitsu P8020 has optical drive, SD card reader, LAN, Firewire, VGA, and three USB connectors. It does not has HDMI. Probably it will take some time before we start to see HDMI in ultarportable notebooks

* It is expensive for budget consumers


Final Thought

This notebook fits in ultraportable notebook category. It is not inexpensive. You may like to explore other ultra portable notebooks in this category before taking a buy decision.
